About our photography
Maine Images
is primarily the work of Keith Thompson, a North Yarmouth-based photographer who has previously lived in Virginia, Colorado,
Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, California, and Hawaii. All works on this site are his unless otherwise indicated.
The photos were taken using an Olympus D-600L digital camera, Olympus E-10 digital camera, a Nikon D1X digital camera, and Nikon F100 and 8008S 35mm cameras.
Two types of photographic prints are
available from Maine Images, digital and standard (film negative).
Digital Prints
Digital prints are those taken by a digital camera and printed directly from the file on an Epson Photo Stylus 2000P printer using archival inks and papers with a light fastness of between 140 and 200 years, based on tests. These prints show no film grain and are indistinguishable from film prints. We are pleased to be able to provide large format digital prints up to 11" x 14". Archival papers are available in Archival Matte and Glossy textures. Archival Matte is recommended for maximum lightfastness. Digital photographs are clearly identified on the web site.
Standard Prints
Standard prints are made from 35mm film negatives and may
be ordered in 8" x 10" or 11" x 14"
formats and are printed on high-quality papers. Larger formats are available; please contact us with your special
requirements.
Glossy and matte prints are available. Matte prints are on finely textured paper which will reduce reflections and produce a slightly softer image. Glossy paper will produce the sharpest print, but these should be framed behind non-reflective or glare-reducing glass. The price is the same for matte or glossy prints.
Mounting and Frames
Because of high shipping
costs and the fact that each customer's
taste
and decor varies, Maine Images does not offer framed or matted photographs. Photographs are shipped unmounted.
Photographs on this site may be shown matted for effect only.
A Note About Our On-screen Photos
Please keep in mind that the photographs you see on the web site are low resolution compromises
between download time and viewing quality. The on-screen photos are optimized
for a screen resolution of 800 x 600 and 24-bit color. The actual photograph is of much higher color quality and sharpness.
